Optical Observations
Optical data on EF Eri was obtained in Aug and Sep 1996 by J. Patterson and
J. Kemp of Columbia University and J. Imamura at the Cerro Tololo
Inter-American Observatory using the 1-m telescope with GaAs phototubes.
EF Eri was in an anomalously faint state during the observations
(11-14 Aug 1996). It was, in fact, not visible on the TV guider camera
and observations were made using blind offsets.
EF Eri had U = 17.3-17.4, B = 18.0-18.2, V = 17.7-18.2, and
R = 18.0 (Kemp \& Patterson, private communication).
EF Eri was still in this anomalous low
state when re-observed one month later (13-19 Sep 1996).
