ASTRONOMY 123:
|
The text listed at the UO Bookstore for the course (Harrison, Cosmology) is at a higher level than the text used for ASTR 121 and 122 (Chaisson & McMillan, Astronomy Today). The present course (ASTR 123) will be taught at the level of Chaisson & McMillan text. The book by Harrison is very good and offers deeper discussions of things which I discuss in this course. If you buy only one text, you should get the Chaisson & McMillan text rather than the Harrison text. The Chaisson & McMillan text will be much more useful for this course. If you have already purchased the Harrison text, try to return it and get the Chaisson & McMillan text. If the Harrison text is in new condition, there will be no issues when you return the text (not written in and looking new is considered new condition).
We will study Cosmology, the structure and evolution of the Universe, and also consider our place in the Universe. We will cover the following:
Test 1 | February 8,2007 | Review Sheet |
Test 2 | March 8,2007 | Review Sheet |
