Golden Stones

(Perlidae Hesperoperla)

(body length approx. 2.5 cm)

This is one of many stoneflies to which the common name "golden stone" has been applied. They all hatch in the spring, during and after the salmonflies hatch. The nymphs are predators, and are quite active, especially when close to hatching. They do not swim very well, so they are a good candidate your heavy fly on a dropper setup... -----------------------------------------
