Clams?

I'm not sure if this is really from the river or not. I found the shells at Armitage park, and can think of two possibilities: Either it is from the river and was just washed down from a muddier spot in the river during the flood, or some "angler" with questionable morals decided to use it for bait on fly - only water. Only the clam knows, and its dead.
