Chris Impey received his Ph. D. in 1981 from the University of Edinburgh. Despite that he still managed to find employment in astronomy. He held Post Docs in Hawaii and CalTech before migrating to the desert where he is now an Associate Professor of Astronomy at the University of Arizona. In addition to work LSB galaxies, Impey also does research on the nature of Quasar absorption lines (which of course are all caused by LSB galaxies) and enigmatic radio galaxies known as BLAZARS.
