M100 is a challenging target.  It has a diameter of 5.5 arcminutes and
a total integrated magnitude of around 9.5.  It is an excellent
example of disk galaxy which has strong spiral structure.  

The Hubble pictures refer to only the inner 2.5x2.5 arcminutes of
the galaxy, which corresponds to the brighter regions in the ground
based blue CCD image.
