1. Give an overview of the utilization of the Colorado river over the last 60 years. Explain why the Colorado is such a precious resource for economic development in the West, the historical circumstances that lead to the construction of Hoover Dam and how the environmental movement really started with the issue of "who owns the Colorado River?". Finally, see if you can determine where the Colorado river used to end (pre 20th century) and where it ends now.

2. In the year 2000, the world's population will be about 6 billion people. If the world's population continues to grow at the rate of 1.4% per year, what will the world population be in the year 3000?
