Second Assignment - IN CLASS

This Assignment is due at the end of Class on Thursday

Make Your Own Home Page:

Follow the instructions below:

• In a gladstone terminal window type the following commands:
  1. ~wfarens/bin/mweb
  2. cd public_html (go to your web folder)
  3. xedit index.html & (this will be your editor window)
  4. netscape gladstone/~yourusername (should bring up the default web page that you just created above)

  5. Type some relevant stuff in the space between the tags. A tag is anything that looks like in the document. You type between the > and < symbols.
  6. save this file as index.html by typing in the words index.html next to the load button at the top of the xedit window
  7. This is now the beginning of your page

Advanced Features:

• Select an Image from the provided link to serve as your masthead. When you find one you like use the save as feature of netscape located under file. Save the images as file.gif. Now hit reload on netscape and you should see this image

• Pick a topic you are interested in and fill out the links sections.

• If you want to change the background color you may use the link utility on your page as a guide.

• If you want a verbal message, we can do record something in class at a later date.
